Cardiff Design Festival Shortlist

It has been annouced that Gwilym has been shortlisted for the "Best of Welsh Graduate Design" Awards in the Fashion and Textile Category.
The winner is to be announced on the 14th of October 2011.

Gwilym Lansley is a BA Honours Fashion Studies Graduate from The Arts University College in Bournemouth (AUCB). [July 2011]. Primarily influenced by his musical and Welsh background, he is working hard to develop his own design philosophy to share with the world. Gwilym's recently completed graduate menswear collection Hiraeth Dros y Môr was shown at Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) London 2011.

The collection utilises all natural fabrics sourced and created in his native Wales. In a move away from excessive consumerism, his work has an authentic quality with that key emphasis on localised sourcing always to the fore. The ethos being to create collectable garments that you will want to cherish for years to come. Garments which will meld organically into your existing wardrobe and lifestyle.

Most recently he has been working on S4C, the Welsh medium TV channel, promoting his own work and styling segments along side Huw Rees for Wedi7.
His interest in menswear design was developed working at William Richard Green as an intern. [August 2010]
He has exhibited his work in The Girls - Paper Eater Exhibition at Selfridges. [April 2010]
His knowledge base has been furthered through a placement in the design department at Arcadia Group [Nov 2009]

In addition to his design work, Gwilym is developing contacts within the modelling world having worked with designers including Matthew Miller and Without Prejudice, been photographed by Barry Jeffery, Joseph Sinclair, Jens Wikholm and Anna Michell, and worked with Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year, Jamie Stevens.
